Selected Proverbs

16:01    To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the         tongue.

16:09   In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

20:24    A man’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own             way?

19:21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

21:30-31 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.  The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.

27:01 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

11:02 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom

29:23 A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

16:03 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

28:26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

16:20 Whoever gives head to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.

20:18 Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance.

15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

11:14 For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure.

24:5-6 A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength.  For waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers.
