Hunter Stevenson is our Senior Pastor. He grew up in Greenville, SC and graduated from Furman University. After teaching mathematics for 6 years at Spartanburg High School, he attended Reformed Theological Seminary where he received a Masters of Divinity. Hunter served as the Youth Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Macon for 7 years before becoming the pastor of NMPC in 2010. He is married to Heather and they have 4 children. Hunter enjoys college sports, reading and hiking.
Josh Garrett is our Associate Pastor. He has been married to Lindsay since 2008 and they have four children: Madeleine, Jack, Forrest and Winston. He has been a pastor at NMPC since 2013. Before he went to Covenant Seminary in St Louis, he was on staff with Campus Outreach for 5 years in Macon, GA. He loves telling stories, hearing other people’s stories, and seeing the big story God is telling in everything. When he is not working, he loves to play outside with his kids. He also enjoys fly-fishing, skiing, camping and cannot wait to do those things with his kids when they get a bit older!
Mark Ballard is our Youth Director. He began serving at NMPC in January of 2015. Mark grew up in Macon and attended Tattnall Square Academy and GC&SU in Milledgeville. Mark is married to Kara. They are currently enrolled in online counseling courses with CCEF (The Christian Counseling Education Foundation). They enjoy hiking, biking, hunting, gardening, fishing, cooking, playing Frisbee, exploring, and some good old-fashioned yardwork.
Debbie McCommon is our Preschool Director. She became a teacher in the Preschool in 2003, and has been the Director since 2009. She grew up in Atlanta and attended the University of Georgia where she graduated with a degree in Child and Family Development and Early Childhood Education. Debbie is married to Paul and they have three children and four grandchildren. She enjoys SEC football, music and spending time with family & friends.
Kathy Pye is our Administrative Assistant. She has worked for North Macon since January 1991. Kathy is married to Charlie and between them they have seven children and fifteen grandchildren. She went to Georgia College and then went on to Crandall Business College where she received an Executive Secretarial Degree. Kathy enjoys reading, music, keeping her grandchildren and cooking with her husband.
Monni Parrish joined our staff part-time in 2013 as pianist and 2016 as financial director. She expanded her role to full-time adding an administrative assistant role in September 2019. After graduating from Wesleyan College with a double major in business and music, she worked for Dick McLemore, CPA focusing on church accounting. She has worked with several churches around Macon including First Presbyterian Church downtown. Monni is married to Charlie and they have two children, Andrei and Nicole. She enjoys reading, spending time with family and playing pickleball with friends.
Duncan Cantrell is our Assistant Pastor to Children and Operations Manager. Duncan came to NMPC in June 2019 from Columbus, GA where he was teaching high school science. He was just ordained in July 2020 after receiving his M. Div from Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta. He and Mary Lou have been married for 6 years. They have two children, Eleanore and Charlie. Duncan enjoys reading, coffee and crisp, fresh mountain air.
Melanie Buckner joined our staff in February 2020 as our Music Director. She grew up in Montezuma, GA and attended Mercer University where she received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees. After several years of teaching music in the university and serving in the church, Melanie earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of South Carolina. She teaches private music lessons and enjoys working with musicians of all ages. She is married to Josh, and they love playing pickleball!
Women's Ministry Coordinator
Payton Churchwell is our Women’s Ministry Coordinator. She joined our staff in September 2019 after being an active member of NMPC for 9 years. Payton is originally from Macon and graduated from Central High School. She earned her business degree from Auburn University and worked in insurance before staying home to raise children. She is married to Jason and they have three children, Jay, Emory and Packy. Payton enjoys traveling and seeing live music any chance that she can.
Girls Youth Director
Anna Smith joined the NMPC staff in May of 2020 for the second time as our Youth Ministry Assistant. She was on staff the summer of 2016 as a summer intern. She is originally from right here in Macon, Ga. She graduated from Georgia College & State University with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in Marketing. Combining her degree with her passion for people brought her to North Macon where she assists Youth Director with planning events, designing graphics, and investing in the lives of NMPC's youth. Her parents, three sisters and brother -in -law all live in Macon and attend NMPC as well. Anna is passionate about photography and has her own photography business.
